Default Tiger and MIX systems?

Should I assume that my MIX system will never be able to run PT 6.4.1 under Tiger? Has anyone tried that yet?

The plug was pulled on further testing/development of PT on Mix systems at OS 10.3.4, so unless Digidesign changes their mind about that, I think you can assume that Mix systems will not be able to make the move to Tiger.

Again, Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 will be the last software release supporting Pro Tools|24 MIX systems. While further software upgrades and updates for Pro Tools|24 MIX are not expected to be provided after this release, this will not affect your Customer Support eligibility status. If urgent field issues arise, Digidesign may address them with CS releases as before.

and that is a quote from this page :

it's clear enough imho.

It kind of sucks for MIX users but this is more of Apple's fault (for creating a new operating system) and less of Digidesign's.

Nobody really needs Tiger!!!!!

I guess No new devolopment for Mix as anounced in June 04 really means - No new devolopment period.
At least peaople have stopped asking ... if Mix cards will work in a G5?

Well since you don't need Tiger, your MIX cards are working just fine.

I mean if you're happy with 6.4.1MIX, and there's no reason not to be, then there's no one to blame is there?

Yes, but it took about 15 different threads for some people to finally comprehend that fact.

While I am happy with MIX on 6.4.1 - I'm not super happy with Digitranslator. The last round of PT update (for HD, of course) finally has a digitranslator that can open and convert a mixed sample rate & bit depth OMF.

Why isn't this available for MIX users? I bought digitranslator separately... It's digitranslator that should be updated, and available for MIX users too.

Ironiocally digitranslator in OS9 could handle these feat, so it's hardly a new "update". I reckon it could be considered CS worthy, it's a bug.

Anyone else feel the same?

What about those of us who aren't happy with 6.4.1?

Surely you don't expect to find the holy grail of perfect software. I haven't seen it yet.

imo the MIX hardware has been supported for quite a reasonable period of time, I had my doubts that it would even make it to PT6, so the fact that my MIX cards still have life is good value for me.

My point is that 6.4.1 MIX is working (sure it has bugs - so does my HD 6.x hardware and it always will), and will continue to work on appropriate hardware with modern OS for a reasonbly forseeable future.

I would still buy MIX hardware for workstations, it's still a workable system. I would not buy a d24.
