Mbox and OSX Mavericks
I have an Mbox mini from circa 2007, and for a few years I had been using it with Pro Tools, Cubase, and for just piping my guitar through my computer to play along in iTunes.
Then I "upgraded" to Apple OS X Mavericks. Now it doesn't work at all. The computer recognizes it's plugged in, but there is no sound. It's not the software because the problem is regardless of any open software, mbox is just plugged in, and with headphones for any audio from my computer. This is immensely frustrating because I'm not a pro and I don't really know what the problem is or how to solve it. Is there any solution? I see that now Pro Tools 11 supports Mavericks, but this seems to be a compatibility issue between the Mbox and the operating system, not the software. Please help! I can provide more details on my gear if necessary. |

Re: Mbox and OSX Mavericks
Is your mac Core2 based? If so, this might be your problem:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...OS-X-Mavericks
A possible workaround is getting a cheap USB hub. Joel

Re: Mbox and OSX Mavericks
Ok slight progress. Mine is a generation 2, which I did not know was rather out of date - so I found and installed the correct driver. I am now getting sound from the plugged in guitar, but not from the computer itself, something playing in Quicktime for example.
It seems the sound is not going out into the mbox. again no clue. Progress though! I am on a 2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro, OS 10.9. |

Re: Mbox and OSX Mavericks
when you launch Pro Tools hold down the N key to access the Playback Engine
as to what the Playback Engine is, it is were Pro Tools I/O device is selected and Buffer sizes are chosen It is well described in the PDF

Re: Mbox and OSX Mavericks
Actually I haven't used Pro Tools in several years, I've been mostly using Cubase, or just using the Mbox to pipe in my guitar through the computer to play along in iTunes. So to recap, the guitar sound is now coming through the headphones through the Mbox, but no other computer audio.
