Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
I was running Pro Tools 9 (9.3.whatever the latest version was before they switched to 10) on my iMac running OSX 10.6.8 and started getting a random
high frequency tone showing up in one channel after a while of mixing. This would happen on every session and it wouldn't go away until I would close out of the session and open it back up, or I would have to change the I/O for that channel and it would go away but then I would also be missing certain tracks during playback after that so would have to reopen anyway. I decided to go ahead and upgrade to 10 due to this and The Problem STILL REMAINS. Has anyone else had this same issue and know how to resolve this? I am in the middle of mixing an album and recording some acoustic and drum tracks for a buddy of mine and this is hindering my ability to work. Please help! Thanks in advance to anyone who has any insight. -David |

Re: Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
Its not a tone generated by a demo plugin?

maybe something is up with your interface and its sending the tone into pro tools.

When it appears, bypass the inserted plugins one after another. That way you can see, which one causes it, or rule the plugins out.

Re: Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
Did you guys get this solved..It's very annoying. It seems that when I change the voice allocation the noise disappears, however shows up in other tracks as well. What is causing this and are there any updates for it? I'm running PT HD 10.3.5 on Mac OS 10.6.8.
Ideas? |

Re: Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
Your post is the only one I have seen announcing this problem. So I'd suggest it is in your system.
Muting your plugs one at a time may help in finding where it is coming from, like suggested. There is 10.3.6, made for co-installing 10 with PT11. How long has this been happening? Did it start after an update or loading new plugs?

Re: Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
This sounds like a plug in issue or preferences issue with that session.... If you dont find a plug in fix or by removing the plugins that doesnt fix it, than try importing the session data into a new session and it should reset the prefs for that session....
A LOT of little problems seem to be related to corrupt session data in my history of PT.

Re: Help! High Frequency Tone (3k or so) randomly coming into channels during mixing
It's not a plug in issue. Many of the tracks don't have plugins where the noise is present. Even upon importing session data- it still persists. I may have to run extensive tests to pin point it. Sometimes when I duplicate the track it goes away as I use the newly duplicated track. We have the same setup in our studio A and have never seen this issue there.
We still run our O2R into a 192 with PT HD 10.3.5 on OS 10.6.8 |
