Default What fps rate should sound recordist use on set?

What fps rate should sound recordist use on set for a production that is shot on film (24fps) but will be edited in a PAL environment?

24, but check with the editor! Too many variables to guess about here.

Editors tend to ask for 25 as if the edit system is PAL-based, the film will be telecined at 25fps and then speed will be corrected once edited, it's more likely than not that the EDLs will be at 25fps and then conformed to 24 after editing.

However, the fps setting for the audio won't affect playback speed/pitch at all, it will only be useful for conforming the audio in post.

All UK films have sound recording set to 25fps.

Luckily, we don't have to dick around with 0.1% pull-ups and pull-downs (which do affect playback speed and are more critical) like they do with the mess of a system that is inherited from NTSC in the US.

if it's pal telecine (digibeta or the like) 25fps TC. If it's 24P telecine (not 23.976!!) use 24fps TC.
