New build. Stuttering video and error (AAE-9093)
Hi there,
I am a PC tech who was approached by a PT user (sound engineer/producer in the advertising/documentary field) to build a replacement for his working HP Z400 which was lagging during his bigger jobs. After research, I built a PC which specifications are in my signature. I applied the recommended optimisations here (I removed the http://avid. so it doesn't appear as a link): force.com/pkb/articles/troubleshooting/Windows-10-Guide When we load a small project with video (with the DNxHD codec) we get the following error after a few seconds: Audio processing could not complete due to conflicts with other CPU tasks or a potential clocking issue. Verify your sync cables or try changing the HW Buffer Size (AAE-9093) We went through every troubleshooting guide related to this error. They were mainly for Macs. We removed the optimisations, one by one, and came across this thread: (http://community).avid.com/forums/p/109264/633420.aspx When we try the same project after removing the PT card, using the ASIO driver we get no error. When we try the same project with the card in but video disabled we get no error. We've tried all possible slot configurations and also swapped the new Graphics card with the old one from the Z400. Alongside this error, my client uses mostly the H.264 codec and regardless of all and any of the above configurations the video is stuttery and unusable. The old set up has no problem whatsoever with this codec. I would really appreciate any suggestions because we're at a dead end and the next step is selling the PC or parts to cut our losses. Thanks very much. Paul

.. you might find some information by using LatencyMon (resplendence.com).
There might be a driver conflict. |

Thanks ulisauer,
I tried it and it looks like excellent software - we're making a last ditch effort on Thursday. I don't have access to the PC till then. Hopefully it will highlight any conflicts and/or unsuitabilities. If anyone has any other things to try I would love to go armed with a list. Cheers, Paul

How were the parts chosen? What is the Sound Blaster doing(does the motherboard have no audio)? Have you set Windows( Sound Properties) to use the Sound Blaster as its "default playback device"? Have you updated graphics driver from the nVidia site(not the MSI site)? And removed all the excess crap that nVidia wants to install? Maybe pull the HDN card and see if it looks better(and if it does, then move the HDN car down to another slot). Be aware that the HDN card, though having a short slot connector, it will work in a full-length slot as well If your friend had not already spent the money, I would have recommended an off-lease HP Z820 BTW, I just re-read and my personal feeling is the 550 watt PSU is maybe too small. I don't recommend anything below 750 watts, these days
