What was the name of that apparently magical dialogue plugin?
My memory...
I think it was out last year, based on a rare or custom bit of hardware. Helps it sit in the mix, one of those "just sounds right" things. Someone recommended it to me a while ago, can't remember who that was either... sigh... does the DUC hive mind know what I mean? All my search attempts have failed...

You might be thinking of McDSP's SA-2, based on Mike Minkler's custom hardware. It's not magic, but I own it and use it.

Ah thank you Daniel, that's the one. Disappointed to hear it's not actual literal magic, but will demo it next week.

Guy - it’s great. Highly recommended as the last layer of 800 sandpaper on your dials. Give ESV a call

Re: What was the name of that apparently magical dialogue plugin?
I got it and used it, but found even on its most gentle settings it turned S into F etc. What did I do wrong!?

Re: What was the name of that apparently magical dialogue plugin?
I don’t treat it as as a de-esser. I have Sonnox (surgical), fabfilter (general) and SPL (best for drama as it is not a side chain compressor and does it with phase - which seems to hurt dial least.) on my channels for that.
The SA-2 is a gentle mastering compressor for any unevenness on my channel premix HF content - and just smoothes everything nicely, like a dB or two of bus compression does to my slightly compressed source channels. If it is all roughly good, then this is a very fine nice ironing process that allows you to tailor your Hmf and Hf. Just my 2C..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: What was the name of that apparently magical dialogue plugin?
The analogy to 800-grit sandpaper is right--it is a very nice tweak/secret sauce. You will make trouble for yourself if you try to use it as a regular heavy-lift de-esser....

I use a combo of TD Nova and Soothe.

Is that on the bus or each track? I do like Soothe
