Default Audio tracks default input question

I'd like to have newly created mono audio tracks default to input 1 of my audio interface. In the manual it says new tracks are automatically assigned in ascending order. Is there any way to bypass this? Thanks.

Not that I know of but there's a way around it: create the number of tracks you want; select them; on a Mac hold down the Option key and click with your mouse on the input selector of one track and pick the input you want assigned and all the selected tracks will change their inputs to that input. If you're on Windows I don't know the equivalent to the option key.

I think in the i/o setup you can set your desired input.

But that doesn't help; all new tracks are set incrementally in input.

Only default Output can be specified.

Best option is to use a "template" session that you import from.

Template session is one option. Track templates is a better option. If you NEVER use the other inputs, you could delete them from your IO setup so that input 1 is the ONLY available input.
