Default Video Engine error - processes for fix

Since no one else has figured this out I'm going to mention my process here in trying to fix it.
I should first mention that my video engine is enabled in PT. And I'm trying to play a quicktime video file. (.mov) in pro tools. However I get the error that many of you are getting "A video error has occured. ... something about checking the video error logs for further info"

I noticed that on the new compatibility page for PT12 it mentions compatibility issues with Windows 10. So I took a couple days and wiped windows 10 from my pc, reinstalled windows 7, and then reinstalled PT 12.5 and all my plugins. I had hoped this would fix the video engine bug. It did not.

So anyone have any other suggestions?

*I'm thinking of going back to PT11. My computer was bought for that upgrade, so perhaps theres an unmentioned compatibility issue with 12.5.

More ideas?

You should have no problems running PT12.5 under Win10. I take it that you have Quicktime installed on your PC, and downloaded the Avid codec pack from your account?

PT 12.5 ran with Windows 10 but the video engine did not.

And like I said, it's not working with PT 7 either. So ultimately I've discovered that was not the problem.

I'm hoping someone can help me get the video engine to work again.
