Re: quantize help! - keyboard gliss????
I'm curious about this too. I had a similar problem on a demo I was working on a couple weeks ago. Was using Xpand to program drums and wanted to add some flam-type unquantized hits. When I recorded the MIDI notes, they showed up off the grid like I played them, but when I played them back PT seemed to automatically play them on beat.
It was annoying, and after checking all the settings I could think of, I finally gave up.

Re: quantize help! - keyboard gliss????
Hey,
Go to 'Event' menu, then select 'Midi' then 'Input Quantise' (or just press Alt + 3 on numeric keypad) and check if you have 'Input Quantise' enabled... |

Re: quantize help! - keyboard gliss????
can't speak for jlcnyc, but that definitely wasn't my problem. input quantize will put the notes on the grid when you record them.
what was going on with my session was like an "output quantize". the notes were still showing in the edit window as being off the grid (where i played them), but PT was still playing everything to the nearest 16th or 32nd note.

Re: quantize help! - keyboard gliss????
Sounds like real time properties are quantising the tracks. RT properties quantise function produces 'output quantise'. Have you double-checked this?
However jlcnyc's problem sounds like Input Quantise is enabled as he's sure RT properties are not quantising the tracks. |

Quote:
yes...input quantize was checked under "events" I certainly didn't open that pref and check it....and my new sessions don't default to "input quantize". It's curious but it's SOLVED! thanks for everybody's help
