Default OT Apple\'s new browser, Safari

Safari is pretty damned good, and free to boot. Its really quick and the anti-popup thing works like a charm. And no i don't work for Apple.

So sad it doesn't work on 9, or I'd be there. Would be nice to use as a tool to check sites I build.

Been using it since day one and loving it. Couple more features and it could be near perfect...

So does it replace Netscape and Explorer completely? I don't use OSX much yet but I'll load Safari and switch back and forth if it's as good as they say it is. It would be nice to have this and the Apple mail program and be free of 3rd party problems.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Almost, there still is a few issues with banking sites. I have been using it exclusively since it came out and only used IE twice. I think the next update will make it the default.

remember it still a public beta app

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I would say not quite yet (it's still a beta release) for some pages. But they have a bug reporting system that will speed up this rendering process.

Not to upset anyone but IMO Netscape or Mozilla for OSX is a dog. And the mozilla group has all but acknowledged that with the Safari development they are all but finished as a viable OSX browser.
Omniweb has indicated they will probably use Safari's WebCore for their engine.

The good news is that WebCore is based on and contributing to an open source rendering and javascript engine (KDE) that hopefully will push for standardized display of websites.

What? Safari good? Safari has a long way to go, try pulling up some Flash sites, its horribly slow and clunky in other areas as well even outside of Flash. You folks obviously stick to audio and don't mingle into the world of web design too often if you're thinking Safari is a great app.

Some people like wearing rose colored glasses when dealing with Apple and for good reason they usually make good stuff, but lets hope the non-beta release of Safari is much better than this weak beta.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I'll take it over Explorer any day of the week, simply for the built in popup blocking, but it isn't a Netscape killer yet. No tabbed browsing and some embarassingly bad (for Apple) GUI flaws keep it from being my default browser.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Or perhaps your computer is just in need of some "spring cleaning" and more horsepower
