Default Reamping/hardware insert question

Hey folks. So I was trying to run the high end of my bass through just my amp head with the eleven rack. I'm sending a bass DI out the reamp out on the front to the amp head and then out the DI on the back of the amp into the main Mic Pre on the eleven rack. At first I was trying to do it as a hardware insert but the inserts are just Insert 1 (mono), Insert 2 (mono) etc. I don't know what these actually correspond to. Sooo, I tried setting it up on an aux track. I just made the output of the bass track the reamp out and the input of the aux track the mic pre. It works, EXCEPT there is a massive delay. Tips?

I'd like to be able to help but I'm finding it difficult to understand your routing, not what you've done but why.

Exactly what are you trying to achieve?

What do you mean the "high end of your bass"? In terms of frequency?

And why that routing?

Okay. I didn't think the details of why I'm doing it we're really important but I will explain anyways. There is a very common technique of duplicating your bass DI. Hi passing one and low passing the other so you can treat the high-end and low-end individually. I'm trying to use my real amp head the same as I would use an amp sim in this context - as a plug-in inserted on the track. My amp has an output that allows you to run the amplified signal without a cabinet so you can use a cabinet IR instead. SO as I said before, I am sending the already recorded bass DI in Pro Tools out the reamp out of the eleven rack into the amp. Then out of the amp into the mic pre on the eleven rack.

What is your buffer setting? You are hitting it at least twice compared to the original. 4 times if you were playing live through it (input from bass, output to reamp, return from mic, output to speakers.) So turn your buffer down as low as you can.

Otherwise, set up the reamp as a insert on the insert tab in i/o setup. The inputs and outputs need to be the same (say you go for the insert on outputs 3-4, you get your signal back on inputs 3-4) and then put in the delay on the H/W insert delay tab for that hardware loop. If you are going out 3-4 but returning 1-2, this isn't going to work. You'll have to do it the way you are doing it currently. Then you'll have to manually key in the delay compensation for the aux channel in the delay area of the mixer page. Won't get around delay but will put everything back in sync.
