Has anyone tried HDX with Magma ExpressBox 3T?
Am considering to let go of my trusty old HD3 system. Need DSP power and plugins while recording so it has to be HDX, not HD native. Am wondering if the HDX works with Magma's thunderbold 3T expansion. Couldn't find anything on the AVID website, so it's not qualified I guess.
The magma website states: "Magma is working with a comprehensive list of 3rd Party Development Partners to pre-qualify solutions while each company works towards providing Thunderbolt Aware drivers." Has anyone heard if AVID is among these partners? Any rumours? Has anyone heard anything thru the grapevine? Or has anyone played the good ol' "trial and error" game? My dream is a portable MBP + HDX system, that would rock! Thanks, Jan

If you go to this page on Magma's site: http://www.magma.com/thunderbolt.asp
you'll see Avid listed as a partner. As far as what you call 'good old trial and error' that's nigh on impossible seeing as how the box hasn't even been released to the general public yet. |

Thanks Musicman691. Good point. Thought it was out already. I guess I have to be patient and see what happens.
Cheers, J.

Re: Has anyone tried HDX with Magma ExpressBox 3T?
I really hated to be the bearer of that bit of news. It's a shame it's taking this long after having been announced months ago. It's gotten me to wondering if it's all just vaporware and not really going to happen. That and how buggy will it be on release?

I called Magma today. They're now saying this will be out at the end of March.
I called Sonnet the other day. They're saying theirs will be out at the end of April. |

Contacted Magma months ago. This was the response:

Well, I'd rather wait a little longer to buy a divide that works 100% than have it rushed into the market at a beta state. Fingers crossed that Magma is using the extra time to get it past the teething stage. In the meantime, my old HD3accel works still as well as it did 6 years ago. Jan

It's probably time for a BUMP:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw_jB...ature=youtu.be The Magma seems to very close to release: http://magma.com/thunderbolt_preorder.asp Are there any beta-tests or early adopters who would consider sharing their experience? Thanks, Jan

Re: Has anyone tried HDX with Magma ExpressBox 3T?
Are you really getting one because Magma's website still says they are on pre-order. They're taking reservations and expect availability April 2012 pending Thunderbolt certification. I know it's May but having something on Magma's site that they really are available would be nice.

Re: Has anyone tried HDX with Magma ExpressBox 3T?
Yes, I am. They just send the tracking number. I have ordered mine since december 2011. Have send more then 10 emails regarding the shipping date. The guys from Magma, Tom and Jill, are really polite and they answered the same day my questions. And last week I have received an email for authorizing the payment, as they asked me if I want a pre-production unit. They are shipping me the pre-production unit. And when the production unit comes out we gonna swap. if I want to, of course. They told me:
"Apple and Intel need the ports to be interchangeable before they give us Thunderbolt compliance. We are working on this, but in the meantime, we will start shipping pre-production units (make sure to plug Thunderbolt cable into Top port)." So can't wait. I bought my new iMac since months and cannot use it with my HDX2.
