Default Monitoring with Digi003R

Hi,

Is it possible to monitor input sources on channels 1 thru 18 without using Pro Tools LE Software?

I know there is an alternate input for monitoring but that does not help.
I have guitars, keyboards etc. connected to the 003R and sometimes i just want to practice without having my DAW turned on.

My signal chain is as follows:

Instruments --> Digi003R ----> Monitors

or do i need a mixer for this?

Thanks

It won't work without protools open(other than the Alt inputs). You could make a session just for this purpose by setting up 18 aux inputs.

Thanks for the response - this is one thing that surely sucks about the Digi003R.
I checked the manual several times, and did not see any info on monitoring of all inputs which is why I posted here.

I've been spoiled with my prior interface made by Edirol - it has zero latency monitoring of all input channels.
Your suggestion works with Pro Tools, but i will have the same problem when using my other program -- Sonar. It appears that I will also have to simulate all aux inputs in Sonar as well.

anyways, thanks..
