Default [Question] Monitoring vocal while playing track

Please help!

When I record vocal while track in playing, I can hear myself while hitting record botton (Blue circle. see link). Is there anyway to hear or monitor vocal without enabling the blue circle. I'm looking to simply monitor vocal while track is playing without recording. Is this possible with PT? I currently use UA Apollo Twins with PT12

Screenshot is avaiable in the below.

Enable LLM (low latency monitoring)

PT will now mute the audio being sent to the armed track and you'll monitor through UA's Console app.

See this video.

I believe Drew's answer is the best answer for you, using Universal Audio's console application.

But.....for those that are not using Universal Audio Interfaces "and" are monitoring the thread.

The button directly to the Right of the "Track" Record button, the one that has a capitol I. That is the input monitoring button. This will allow you to hear the microphone or whatever is connected to that track without recording.

You can also search the PT Reference Guide for "Input Monitoring" .

Cheers.

Oh yeah and I did not see a Green Circle anywhere.....

The other way would be to engage input monitoring. the little button with the (I) the one next to the record button

Thanks for the tip. The problem with doing that for me is I can't monitor Echoboy plugin on the UA console.

Great, now I know what [I] is for. Thank you!
Once the take is recorded, is it possible to have [I] turned on and still listen to the recorded vocal?
With [I] turned on, I would have to disable [I] every time when I have to go back and listen to the recorded vocal.

About the green circle, Sorry! the color used was blue.

Thanks for the tip. The problem with doing that for me is I can't monitor Echoboy plugin (PT) on the UA console.

I tried below but unable to output vocal track (w/Echoboy) to UA console.
Track muted on PT and Unmute on UA console. LLM is also turned on.

No, you cannot simultaneously listen to input and the track recorded at the same time. You can, however, put it in other modes such as:
  1. Disable input when dropping out of record (this is the default setup) so that you can hear what you recorded after you stop recording.
  2. Listen to the previously recorded track until you put it into record (at which point you are hearing the new recording.) This is how quick-punch mode works but you can do this with other recording scenarios too.
