Default 2 digi002 racks - optical clicks

Hi.

Running Pro Tools 9. I have 2 digi002 units linked via optical cable. When I select a channel from the slave unit I get clicks, some loud but shows on the channel meter on pro tools. When I run both units individually there are no clicks. Is there a setting in pro tools that needs to be set? Tried lowering the buffer rate to 128 with no luck. Can you link both digi002's individually via firewire to the computer? I have tried this but pro tools doesn't recognise the second 002. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve.

You definitely can't use both at the same time through firewire, but one in standalone mode should be ok.

Make sure you select optical clock source in Setup > Hardware.

Thanks for that. No more clicks. In saying that when the system sits in idle for a while a static sound comes over all inputs and I need to reboot the whole system to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Is the screen saver coming on? Could your computer be trying to idle your hard disks? Does it go to sleep?

Thought it might have been the screen saver. Waited for it to kick in and didn't happen. Not at the system now so I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know how I go.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Regards,

Steve.
