Can't open PT 5.1 file in PT 7.4
I'm using PT7.4 on a MAC g5 dual 2.0ghz. Recently I've had a call to open some old files which were in 5.1.
When I try to open them PT crashes and I have to restart. A few files have worked ok but of course, not the ones I really need. Any ideas? Thanks |

Re: Can't open PT 5.1 file in PT 7.4
One thing to look at are the characters in the file name.... in the OS9 days, all of my sessions started with dates: 09/03/98
OSX doesn't like the "/" in the file name, and crashed PT every time. Your other option is to create a new session and see if you can import the tracks into it. |

Re: Can't open PT 5.1 file in PT 7.4
I'd also suggest you try shift-double clicking to open the session which will open it with all plugins inactive. This should at least identify if a specific plug is causing the problem.
Also what format are your audio files? And have the sessions ever been on a PC or a FAT32 formatted hard drive? Have you tried an import session data instead? Does this also crash? |
