Default Nas raid system for archive

Hi folks.
I'm looking into setting up a NAS RAID system for our archive.
Would anyone out there have any advice/ do's & don'ts ?
Any advice gratefully received.

I've had a Synology NAS for over two years and it's been flawless.

I TimeMachine a few laptops to it, and use Chronosync to do incremental back ups of the studio machine. Zero complaints.

I also run Plex on it that serves up my entire music, tv, and movie libraries on any device anywhere in the world.

Hi Drew.
Cool
May I ask a couple of questions?
If we have a bunch of Pro Tools sessions residing on there, is it possible to play back from a nas raid system just to hear the audio files ?
The idea being our archive lives on there and we pull stuff off to work on on external drives and when particular projects are finished they get stored back on the nas raid system …?

Ah ha . so I've done some searching & it seems people are using RAID systems with Pro Tools. . .
So maybe this plan will work .
I am looking at QNAP.

Cool, I use their fibre system at one of the studios I use, works well.

I will say if its just for archiving, you don't need fancy (expensive) ones like these. The QNAP and Synology will do. And while I don't recommend running sessions from them (doesn't work well) you can easily audition files and playback across the network.
