updating to PT9 from mbox pro 2 no serial

I don't have a card with a serial number for my mbox 2 pro can I use the serial number on the mbox itself to upgrade to PT9 ?

No, you should have a Pro Tools serial number that you received when you bought the MBox.. you entered it when you installed your original Pro Tools LE software. If you can't find it, you can contact Avid via email if you registered your software.

I bought my mbox on ebay so i don't have the serial for the software which is why I posted my question.

How did you install it? The seller surely transferred his serial number to you right?

You may end up having to buy the full version.

The hardware serial number printed on the back or bottom of your LE audio interface (Mbox 2 Pro in your case) is what is required for the crossgrade from Pro Tools LE to Pro Tools 9.0. Not the software serial number.

I'm trying to purchase the upgrade on the store, but it refuses to accept my serial number (mbox pro 2) now what?
