MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new MBP with the touch bar; this is for my portable rig. Has anyone else tried this configuration? Is the touch bar implemented in ProTools in any way?

Any other issues I should be aware of? I will be getting a usb c to tb2 adapter for my interfaces and another usb c to usb hub for the iLok, external drives, keyboard and trackball.

Here is a message I got from iZotope because their plugins are crashing Pro Tools, and Logic for that matter left and right...

Thanks for contacting us, and I’m sorry for any trouble you’re experiencing! This is due to a compatibility issue with the new MacBook Pro Touchbar.

Currently the workaround for this problem is to disable touch bar support for the application you are in.

For Pro Tools, please open your Terminal window (Spotlight Search > Terminal) and enter the following:

defaults write -app Pro\ Tools NSFunctionBarAPIEnabled -bool NO

It must be entered exactly as above, so I recommend copy/pasting this command.

This workaround will disable touch bar support for that application. To re-enable, you can enter the following command:

defaults write -app Pro\ Tools NSFunctionBarAPIEnabled -bool YES

I have good news. 10.12.4 has seemingly fixed the crashing issues with PT and the TB MBP. Fingers crossed...

Using the new MBP w TB. PT does seem to work pretty reliably; PT will cause the comp to give me the spinning wheel every now and then, but it never crashes as much as just slows me down. Kinda annoying, but seems like it should get resolved with a future PT patch. For the record no TB features (yet) with PT.

I have been enjoying the touch bar, but I do find myself having to kinda memorize what buttons pop up for each specific application.

It would be kind of silly to develop touchbar only features. Considering what a small segment of the user base that could actually use it, it would be a waste of resources that are already in short supply. Plugin developers of course is a different story. Though I think it would be financially pretty limiting for them as well.
