Easy one...

Create a new stereo audio track. Control drag (to maintain position) your two mono tracks (together) into the stereo track. Make sure they are "left over right" to maintain your L-R stereo imaging. You now have a stereo track. Please note it must be assigned to a stereo output pair.

I love it how a simple tip posted in 2004 is still useful in 2011.

But that doesn't carry over the playlists...

Consolidate both regions to the exact same length. Name the left xxx.L and the right xxx.R. The two regions will now pair in the playlist and you can drag and drop it to a stereo track.

Or dragg all to-be-paired clips on the playlists manually to the stereo track. All 3 tracks with track view set to playlist.
On the stereo track, create as many additional playlist as on the 2 mono tracks.
Click/Shift-Click the corresponding mono clips, drag to the corresponding stereo playlist.

I may have misunderstood but I believe I remember this subject being discussed before and, if I'm not mistaken the consensus was that you can't make a stereo track from two mono tracks. End result, you still have two mono tracks, one panned left and the other panned right! I duplicate one mono track and pan each hard left and right which gives a bigger sound to vocals but I still have two mono tracks. I could be wrong here but two mono tracks do not in any way constitute a stereo track as in an instrument or vocal recorded in stereo with two microphones. (Pro tools 9, Win 7,32bit)
