Inserts in PTLE 6.7 not working
Can anybody help with some PT difficulties I am having? I use PTLE 6.7 on Digi 002, on a G4 silver door from 2003.
When I use the inserts(like a plug in, but they use the ins and outs, so you can patch in outboard gear) I started having a problem recently that goes like this: Any plug ins after the inserts don't work. Any fader moves don't work. And most incredibly, that track is heard in the 2 mix but does not appear in the bouncedown! This happened once before and I trashed the pro tools prefs but that fix is not working now. What’s up? As long as I'm at it, here's another comment: Those inserts have a delay proportional to the buffer size, ranging from 6 milliseconds to 48 milliseconds. I think that fact should have been clearly stated somewhere in the manual. I use inserts all the time and I have to adjust my track timing to compensate. But It recently came to attention that this delay depends on the buffer size! OK here's another one...recently I was recording vocals and noticed the feel was slightly different on playback. Upon investigation I discover that the tracks are printed 95 sample(2 milliseconds) after they actually occurred. So now I need to kick all my tracks back by 2 ms as I go along if I want the original performance to be preserved! The Digi website says this is a “known issue in PTLE”. OK guys when’s the fix coming? Sincerely Richard P. Robinson Los Angeles CA [email protected] |

Re: Inserts in PTLE 6.7 not working
The 95 sample delay is fixed in Pro Tools 6.9.
As for your other issue, can you please provide a complete system profile, including computer model, OS version and any peripherals you may have connected to the computer. Does this issue happen in every session or just certain ones? Can you also give us a description of how you have the gear connected and how it's routed in Pro Tools? This will help immensely when trying to reproduce the problem. |

Re: Inserts in PTLE 6.7 not working
Heres the data on the machine:
Machine Model: Power Mac G4 CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.2) Number Of CPUs: 1 CPU Speed: 1 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB Memory: 512 MB Bus Speed: 133 MHz Boot ROM Version: 4.6.0f1 Serial Number: RM325Z7ZN1W Its a console 002 The outboard gear is standard analog stuff like compressor reverb etc. I actually have solved the problem by trashing the prefs. I guess the first time I tried it didnt really trash them. Strange though, that this was the second time this happened, the first time was about 8 months ago. You dont have clue whats going on until you listen to the bouncedown and stuff is missing. Oh well, good luck hunting it down. |
