11R - Playback issue- stuttering/repeating

Hello, hope someone can help me here. I have searched and it seems no one has had this problem.

I record a part using the Eleven Rack In L/R (not the dry guitar in) and when I play it back it sounds jumbled, as if I am hearing the part I played cut up and rearranged. Sometimes there will be a digital distortion hit and a channel will drop out completely.

I can't see that this would be a latency issue or CPU issue as I can do this with it being a one track project.

Is this possibly a clock issue or something? Everything works great while tracking, it is just upon playback that it sounds jumbled or stuttering.

On what kind of system? PT Version? error messages?
Initially I had a few problems with 11r but now it runs pretty smoothly...

Thx for the reply, I am using Pro Tools LE 8.03. Very simple setup, just LE and the Rack. There are no error messages at all. Here is what I am doing..
- Create a stereo audio track
- Assign the Input to Eleven L/R
- Record a guitar part
- Play back the part

When the part plays back, it sounds jumbled and occasionally loud distortion is heard, pops etc. Once time, it played fine the first time and I thought it must have been a glitch, but immediately went back to the same on second playback. It sounds like it is playing back the part in chunks, but not sequencially. Very strange. Unusable!

May be an 8.0.3 and 11R issue... read this thread http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=261763 ...right after I posted this I saw they have an 8.0.3 updater for 11R (see top sticky in this thread...) have you run that updater?

Hi, thanks for the tip but yes I had already installed this patch.
Basically this is my path.. I had an Mbox2 with LE installed, bought Eleven Rack, replaced the Mbox and upgraded/installed all 3 downloads from Digi (upgrade to 8.03, 11r update that you mentioned and also upgraded firmware on the rack). Everything seems to work fine except playback. I see the GUI, I can record from Guitar In or Eleven Rack L/R. But playback is garbled, it's the strangest thing.
I am going to call technical support tomorrow and see what I can find out. I appreciate the help, will post an answer to this if I get it fixed...

I notice that sometimes it will let me playback a track without issue at least once when I have just freshly opened Pro Tools, but after 2 or 3 plays it then gets messed up again.

If anyone would like to hear what I am talking about, I recorded a simple guitar part, bounced it out before it got messed up (so you could hear the original), then I played the part a second time, which caused the issue, and bounced that one too. So I have two files of the same part, one ok and one bad, both are 1.5mg each.

I can email them to anyone interested. I emailed them to Digi support today as well..

I get the distortion also occasionally. I have also heard the pops. It is not all the time with my system but often at least once in every 11R session. With my 002R...nothing.... quiet and stable.

I want to hear your files. Look for PM.

I too get the jumbled playback, exactly as you describe, occuring after a few minutes of playback with no apparent trigger... I'm running PT LE 8.0.3 on Windows XP, but am using an Mbox 2, not an 11R.

It sounds as if it's chopping up the playback measure by measure, then shuffling each bit around randomly. Definitely NOT how I played it, but still somehow in time with the song- bizarre. I also got some full scale white noise on the offending track a couple of times.

Did you ever determine a fix?

I'm having the same problem.

No error messages or anything.

I'll lay down a guitar track and when I playback it sounds good, then when I playback a second time, it's just completely jumbled.

I just got Mbox2 and LE 8 the other day, so I'm a rookie.

But I know everything is supposed to be compatible with my system.

This is the only thread I could find on my issue.

I read the whole manual, watched the instructional DVD... everything seems to be working fine except my guitar track gets mangled.

It doesn't appear mangled either when you look at what I layed down... it just is when you playback.

This sounds like an issue with the PC to me - I would update all the drivers for XP, also check what processes are running when this happens and also how much memory is being used on the PC at the time.

Once you are sure all this has been done you can start to problem solve a little deeper.
