Default I need opinions on settings....

Hey guys!

I own a Digi 002 Rack and a pair of active Tannoy monitors.
What is best? Turning the monitors rear panel volume knob all the way up and using the volume control on the digi 002R to reach a comfortable listenning level? Or turning the dedicated monitors level knob ( let's say 90%) and compensate with the 002R to reach the same listenning level as in the first case?
How do you guys doing in your studios?

Thanks a lot.

I think you'd be good either way, but there are active speakers out there that doesn't have a level control, and with those you'd need a monitor level controller. In your case, that's the 002. I say crank up the level on the speakers, and adjust to taste on the 002. Oh, and check the manual.

I would suggest setting your reference level to be about 2 O'Clock on the 002 pot. Stereo pots are poorly matched at low levels. Getting the pot up in a better matched range with some room for going both louder and quieter is a good thing.

When I think about it, I actually had that problem with an Echo playback card on my laptop. Good call.
