Default PT12.1 sizzling when playback track! HELP!!

Hi!

I installed the new PT 12.1. Installation went great, no problems a all. I am using Win7 Home 64-bit. iLok ok!

I opened PT 11 sessions and all the tracks ran ok. I made some new recordings with PT 12.1. and it went well. I am using Mbox3.

BUT when I playback the tracks there is a strange kind of noise noise that kind of sizzling noise on every track. It sounds like "digital artifact". It comes and goes a away, the track sizzles/cracks about 1 sec at a time. You can hear it well with headphones. It is not in the track recorded, because the sizzling changes places, when I playback the tracks again and again. I didn't have this problem with PT 11.3.1.

I have tried to:
- uninstall/install again PT 12.1. a few times.
- iLok runs the latest version/update
- USB drivers are up-to-date
- Mbox 3 driver is the latest
- Cables are ok
- There are no programs running at the same time in the background. Internet is off. All my drivers are up-to-date.

I am very confused with this and I not know what to do? I have tried everything that has come to my mind.

Where can be the problem? Please, give an advice if You have had the same kind of problem.

Thanks in advance!

if a restart doesnt fix it then its possible you have some failing dacs on the interface. I would attempt to use a different set of outputs and see if its only on those outputs. If you dont have another set of outputs attempt to use the digital output and then monitor from your computers dac (if possible)

Are you using Elastic Audio on any tracks? I've been experiencing digital artefacts on playback using live Elastic Audio modes on Pro Tools 12 (never a problem on <= Pro Tools 11.) Just another thing to check...

Thank You for your replies. I am using Mbox3 with PT12.1, as I posted in my OP.

I am not sure if Mbox3 has different set of outputs. If it's the case I want to try those outputs.

Avid says about Mbox3 :
- 4 x 4 simultaneous channels of I/O
- Stereo S/PDIF digital I/O

I don't know how to change DAC in Mbox3 (or other device). And I am not aware about DAC I use currectly. I have to see this. BUT if You have info about this, please inform me about it.

you have 4 outputs on the mbox yes? If you are using 1/2 right now switch to 3/4 and change output settings under set up> io >output to 3/4

This way you can see if ONLY 1/2 are bad. If you have the same issues then possibly they all are bad. Only way to tell would be to get another device to a/b. Possibly use the default output on your computer to see if you still have this distortion?
