Default Opening old PT sessions in PT8

Here's my dilemma: I am working with a client who has brought me sessions from an older version of pro-tools off of a MAC. I am using windows. I cannot open these files..First the were coming up unknown file type. I renamed them with a .PTS extension then pro-tools recognized the session file. Upon opening it, pro-tools gave me a cannot find audio dialogue box..

Can anyone help me with this please

I have a dell Dimension 9100 3.5 gigs of ram, Win XP SP3. running pro-tools 8 on a digi 003...Thanks

My best measure of success is to open them, do a "save as..." which will MAKE them a .pts session, close the session, then re-open.
Is the original session Sound Designer files? There have been some issues getting Windows PT to convert them.

Your going to need to reopen the session on a Mac and convert the SDII files to BWF. SDII is a Mac only format. A PC with MacDrive/HFS+ support can can mount a Mac formatted drive but it can't do anything about the SDII file format.

Or you could use a converter program (just google "sd2 to wav") to convert the files.

And to open an "old" PT session: Have you tried to set the correct version in the open dialog ("File Type"). You can select anything from PT3 to PT7 and it worked quite well for me with a PT6 file.
