Re: Save Copy In Vs Export

If you now de-select it you have exactly the same dialog as save session copy in. Like Rich said, it’s the same dialog, with the difference that export selected tracks as new session pre-selects the necessary option ‘expert selected tracks only. I use it both ways to be honest.. just to make my work a little more exciting I guess. :) |

Re: Save Copy In Vs Export
Thanks, guys for the insights. I actually use the various options as and when needed, but I've never really studied the differences in detail.
I found smurfyou's comment about unused media in the bin useful, something I hadn't considered.

Re: Save Copy In Vs Export
Back in the day, the way to reset corrupt sessions was to create a new session and import tracks one by one into it, a tiresome, primitive solution. I don't understand why a simple "Reset Session" option isn't available.
Currently, will "Save Copy In" or "Export Selected Tracks As New Session" achieve the same result, or must it still be one track at a time?

Re: Save Copy In Vs Export
If you have a corrupt session and do a “Save Copy In” w All Audio Files you risk the chance of an unused corrupt file getting copied into the new session.
Of course, if the corrupt file is on a track then there’s no way of knowing unless you import one track at a time into a new session. If the corruption lies someplace else, you still have a better chance of weeding it out with Import in my opinion. Personally, I never do “save copy in” or “export selected tracks” unless I’m exporting specific tracks I need for another session. I feel it’s a waste of space and I make sure ALL of my audio files for the session are contained in that sessions audio folder. I’ve worked this way for years and have never had an issue with missing audio files. If you have a corrupt session and are trying to salvage the session, my suggestion would be to use Import when starting from a brand new session. If the media is unused to begin with then it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t get copied. |

Great, so obviously the tedious method is still the best for those scenarios with corruption. Imagine trying to salvage a corrupt session with hundreds of tracks... Avid should have a one-click solution that will troubleshoot the corruption and reload the session minus the corrupt elements, as well as notify the user.
