Artist Series- Trim Automation & Faders Moving - HELP!

Hello -

I didn't like the sound of the faders moving around during sessions so I would put the Artist Series Mix in Trim automation mode, make my changes (faders turn yellow) then switch back to the main volume lane. Then the trim automation would follow the volume rides but the fader on the Artist Series unit would be following the main volume automation lane set at 0, ie not moving around.

This method would avoid hearing the faders moving around.

Did something change in the latest update to EuCon v3.5? The faders are following trim and volume. Is there something I can do in coalesce?

This is so annoying. Please help me out there!! Thx in advance.

Hmmm, fader noise has never bothered me(maybe you should mix louder). Having said that, you could simply power the Artist unit to OFF. When you need it again, turn it on, wait a couple of seconds, then restart Eucon. A few seconds later, it should snap back to life

Thanks for the reply, but I need to have my faders up during sessions. Is the S3 any quieter? Anybody have a fader comparison with the S3?

That's not supposed to happen. However I ve been seeing a lot of instances lately where protools would just leave trim mode for no apparent reason. Quite consistently that happens whenever I write send level automation in trim mode with 'include sends in trim mode' disabled on the S3, Eucon 3.5. I've created a thread recently in the s3 section on this. There's lots of automation bugs on s3/Eucon, especially in trim mode.

As for 'silencing' your faders, are you saying the artist series has no 'fader off' mode? Wow! Since I'm mostly workinget with film, I was still annoyed by the amount of led and oled light when just screening the film. Therefore I made a fader layout with just empty tracks for that. On the s3 I can access it with a single button press and everything's off and quiet then except the top left oled. I have very little experience with artist mix/ctrl, but I guess you could do something similar.

Anyway, Avid definitely needs to get a grip on Eucon automation. Blatant bugs where already there over a year ago when I just got the s3. Over the last months things have been getting worse quite consistently and rapidly. One thing that plays is that they e.g. add s3 functions to the dock, but don't think about the implications when using the s3 without a dock. Same goes for artist series I guess. So yes, Eucon automation is quite buggy, and there's plenty of trim issues for sure.
