There is a PT 10 to PT 11 HD upgrade option. Since PT 10 comes with PT 11 wouldn't that qualify?

You don't get the same hardware latency compensation on I/O and inserts.

As mentioned, there is not, and never has been an upgrade from regular Protools to HD software by itself. You misread something. The only option is if you have regular PT 9, 10, or 11, and a Complete Toolkit license. The combination of those can be upgraded to an HD11/10 license.

My mistake. I didn't realize it is a PT11 Bundle iLok not individual.

Avid have to realise lots of people are native today. I wouldn't mind spending a 1000$ to unlock all the HD features (some of which are absolutely ludicrous that you have to spend the amount of money to unlock, like input monitoring), but I don't need Avid hardware or other things for at least 5000$.

Still believe this is something Avid really has to re-evaluate, and I know for a fact that they're loosing customers because of the simple functions like pre-fader listen, input monitoring, limited tracks etc. No other DAW does this.

When people try to find other ways to get just get the HD license(CPTK2, buying iLok's with HD-licenses etc) it's time to meet the demands, and not force, for most people, redundant products upon customer's. This is not how most studio's work anymore.

Related Question:
is it possible to buy an HDX card with PT11HD without the I/O module or is the only way HDX + I/O in order to get PT HD??? (not interested in HD Native)

Feeling the frustration on this one as the owner of the (pretty much pointless now) DV Toolkit 2. About the time I had the capital to upgrade to CPTK, they dropped it. I don't want to replace my 003. I like it! But I do want to move into surround mixing. I did in fact see a few HD11 software-only for sale on E-bay, but it makes me nervous. IF they're legit, you'll spend at least $1600. Which still is cheaper than the "buy new hardware that you don't need" option.

Not suppose to but some dealers will brake the I/O off, especially if they have someone else that wants an extra I/O

...not to mention only one video track on the non-HD version. I also own the defunct DV toolkit 2 and some of its key features (and the reason I bought it in the first place) are missing on the "regular" ProTools. I can (well, I have to) live with it, but it's frustrating.
