Buying an used HD1...need a little advice.

I'm most likely going to buy an used HD core card and just wanted get some advice to make sure I don't get screwed. It's an HD core card and original pt cd. No paperwork or bundled plugins. He says he worked for a development company that worked with Avid/digi and got the card from them in exchange for x amount of hours put in on a project. He said it isn't registered with Digi and gave me the serial number on the card (RU02318). The price is very inviting, but I just want to make sure I will be able to register it and get tech support, software updates etc. The transaction will take place using escroe. I would appreciate any advice on what I will need to register it and any details I may be overlooking to make sure I'm not making a mistake.

Sounds like an NFR.
You will probably not be able to register it.
No support from Digi.

Rob, what is an NFR? I haven't heard that abbreviation before. Thanks for the feedback.

NFR = "not for resale"
Manufactures give them to reps and such for special purposes etc.
