Waves SSL E-channel. If I could only have one Plug-in... along side a Lexicon outboard reverb.

Disclaimer: I have never had the opportunity to touch a real SSL console

As such, I have never tried a SSL 4000 let alone Waves version of the SSL 4000 (I see they offer a demo - so I'll give her a whirl)

I do own Proppellerheads's virtual SSL 9000 (the board in their 'Record' offering)

I enjoy the ride on Record's version of an SSL, but please chime in about the gap (if any) between Waves and Record's SSL virtual boards...are they night and day interms of function

Can I rewire Protools through Records SSL?

Just a few question...for roads I have never travelled

Wave's SSL = SSL 4000G+

Record's SSL = SSL 9000

Two different SSL consoles were modeled.

Thanks Shane, I'll rephrase my question:

Is anyone out there using both the Waves SSL 4000 and Records SSL 9000, if so - what aspects of either do you prefer? and why?

McDSP ML4000...the single band limiter is my go-to for vocals and acoustic guitar, but the multi-band limiter is the finishing touches on EVERY mix.

This is a tough one. I'll have to say the Pultec EQ1A is my fav as I can substitute between several EQ, compressor or reverbs, but nothing else does what the little Pultec does. But I do use the SSL4000 stuff a bit and the Waves SSL bus comp is on all my drum tracks.
