Going from old MacPro to nMP - anticipated snags?
I'm selling the 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 and have ordered a nMP 6-core. Obviously the internal drives are being moved into external enclosures, and DVI video monitors will be adapted to HDMI/Thunderbolt... the obvious hardware things.
But for those of you that have made this upgrade, are there any snags that I'll run into? Also, I'd like to run PT10 on this machine, which will ship with Mavericks. I know it's not approved but will there be any snags here? I'm currently using TDM and realize that Avid hasn't written drivers which allow the cards to go into Thunderbolt chassis, so I may have to switch to Native, but that's a bigger issue which I'd rather tackle separately. |
