Eleven Rack intermittently losing USB connectivity

Just got my Eleven Rack setup and working - however it seems that it intermittently just loses connectivity. My USB ports seem fine, I can connect other things to them with no issue's. But the 11r when connected will work fine and then all of sudden gone and when the disconnect happens this locks up my system.

I am using an older Mac intel powered core 2, 2 MB RAM (yes I know it's the minimum req - but I can't add anymore to the Mac AND I'm not doing CPU intensive recording).

Any thoughts.

its the Eleven Rack connected directly to the computer or to a hub?

Should be directly to the computer.

Have you tried another USB port?

Have you tried another USB cable?

What version of Pro Tools?

Do you have the latest drivers?

Have you done the Pro Tools Optimizations for Mac?

I know that on my windows system it has to be pretty much the only thing plugged into USB or this happens. Not sure if that would be the case on a mac.

It's plugged directly into the Mac -

I have two ports one is connected to a USB hub (iLok, printer, external HD) and the other is directly to the 11r

I downloaded all the drivers, etc. before installing so I'm pretty sure I'm up to date with drivers, etc.

I did try the other port just to make sure it wasn't a port issue - and the connectivity issue happened on each port.

I read on a Mac thread to try resetting the System Management Controller so I will try that later on tonight (once I'm home) and see if that resolves the issue. But any other suggestions are welcome :)

One other thing - the USB port/cable connection seems a little loose. I have e-mail Avid about this. But the connection just seems a little flimsy compared to the other devices I have. Which seemed odd to me

Try another USB cable. The one that came with mine was junk.
