Default VCA Question

If I have a group of vocals with sends going to effects such as reverbs, delays, compressors and aux returns for said effects. If I adjust a VCA assigned to all of the above will it affect the levels sent out of the sends?

VCA's can only be assigned to a group of tracks, not to sends. However, if all sends are post-fader, then yes, the sends will be affected when you adjust the VCA.

Well actually I'm looking for a way to raise or lower my vocal track with there returns without changing the send levels. So do I need to mix with my sends "pre fader" to acheive this?

Yeah, it's either to have your sends pre-fader, or keep them post-fader, and route the audio track's audio output to a new aux track, and raise/lower the vocals there instead. Of course, this method brings up some if's and but's, but it may suit your workflow.

Like if you have plugins on the aux these won't affect the send(s) on the audio track. And that the aux volume doesn't affect the send(s) on the audio track. Small things that doesn't suit my workflow.
