Can I load custom presets to 11Rack without installing ProTools?
I've got one inbound was wondering if I can use another application to upload a patch via MIDI or use some other utility to do it. I'm not really jazzed about installing Pro Tools just to save or load a patch (bad enough I can't edit without it). It seems a bit excessive and I'd like to give it a thorough run thru and fair evaluation before installing the software just in case I'm not feeling it and decide to send it back.
I imagine once Pro Tools is installed and registered it turns into a whole ordeal. Especially if I decide to give it an extended try beyond the return time limit and decide to sell it to someone else, that kind of kills the resale value doesn't it? Would the new owner have to buy Pro Tools just to edit or save patches? Is that right or am I reading something wrong? |

Re: Can I load custom presets to 11Rack without installing ProTools?
At this time you must install Pro Tools to use be able to 'install' presets you download or presets some one gives you ect...
This is done through the GUI that is only available in Pro Tools. Installing the software would make it harder to return, if you are returning it because you dont like the 11R, but fear not, because you will like it - guaranteed If you have to return a faulty unit then whether or not you installed PT will not be a problem. If you sell the unit to a third party, then the PT software goes with it, you give them your install DVD and fill out a Transfer Of Ownership paper if you registered the 11R or PT LE in your name. So thats not a problem either. Give Pro Tools a try. There is a reason it is the Industry Standard.

Re: Can I load custom presets to 11Rack without installing ProTools?
So there is no transfer fee involved if I sell it? That makes me feel a little bit better.
I'm just not real sure about how well it will run on my old PC and my current config runs pretty well as is and I've got a fair amount of money invested in VST plugins that I don't think will work in Pro Tools. I just don't want to have to use two editors just to be able to edit presets and then record. Perhaps I'm asking too much. |

Well, yes but... I wonder what happens if you upgrade to PT9 and later want to sell the 11R... do you keep PT9? Or do you have to hand it over!? :-0

You can keep PT9 and use a different audio interface for it.
