Default Commit in 2018.7

Hello,

I recently updated to Pro Tools 2018.7, and there's a change in how clips are named after committing an edit selection-

In previous versions the new clips would receive the name of the original clip, with an added "-cm" at the end (for example, if I highlighted a clip named "A", after committing, the clip on the new track would receive the name "A-cm".

In this version, the clips are named after the name of track they are located on (for example, if clip "A" sits on a track named "Audio 1", after committing, the clip on the new track would receive the name "Audio 1.01-cm".

I talked to Avid's support, and they say this is the expected behavior, but it seems odd to me that they would change something this helpful without the option to change it in preferences.

Did anyone else encounter this issue and have an idea of how to solve it?

Thanks,
Raz

Welcome to the community.

I can confirm that behavior here. For me, this isn't an issue/problem as I always want my clips to keep the track name.

However, I think that whenever you right-click a selected clip to commit it, the new track and clip should take the clip name.

In either case, it would be great if we had the option to choose in the preferences on how the name is changed when committing. Keep track name with cm or keep clip name with cm.

There are a lot of instances where each one would be useful.
