Quicktime 7.3 plays no audio with Core audio 7.3.1

I installed the software update for Quicktime from 7.2 to 7.3 and now I get no audio when playing Quicktime movies. I think that core audio 7.3.1 Isn't compaitable with Le 7.3.1. I'm running 10.4.9 with Le 7.3.1. Digidesign do you have an update for core audio? Anyone know how to uninstall Quicktime 7.3 and then reinstall quicktime 7.2 Thanks

Hi, Trying to understand your question.
Are you saying when you play a Qt in Protools? or just using Qt in an circumstance? I am on the same system OS10.4.9, but on an HD system.. I'll do some tests and see what I find out for you.

Tested a Quicktime running in Protools and also Bounced to Movie.. no problems here..

I always make sure that I run Disk Utility before and after my install in Protools..maybe over kill, but never seems to hurt.

Have the problem here... Inadvertently installed 7.3 with itunes installer like an idiot. No QT audio when I set audio pref to Digi hardware, but do get audio when set to internal speakers. Thoughts, anyone? Reversion is looking to be an arduous process.

I take there is no pre-binding script for PPC Macs?

same here...no audio in qt 7.3 ...but itunes 7.5 is ok..
updated this morning to ptle 7.4 which updates the digi core driver too..same
funny thing is if i open audio midi config whilst quicktime runnin...set to internal sound..audio is there
like described above...setting back to 002..audio also there..
but after closing qt i have to do the same procedure to get audio again..

its def. quicktime and programs that uses the qt components like chroma...if i select 002 in audio prefs in chroma audio is there ..
but silent if i do not.
so, i think it has something to do with qt security updates cuz it doesnt notice its system audio prefs,anyways
safari,itunes and stuff is ok.

DON'T INSTALL QUICKTIME 7.3 if you want qt audio thru digi core driver !!

Now QT works fine in all situations... Searched around and found this solution. Download Pacifist software and force re-install 7.1.6, run the OS combo updater again, and then install 7.2 - I know its bass ackwards, but only way I've seen to revert w/o having to archive and install... Pain in the @$$...

Sounds like a plan! Just downloaded Pacifist and the package for QT 7.1.6. Can you go through the exact steps for uninstalling/tweaking QT 7.3 and reinstalling 7.1.6, etc?

Hi,

I just upgraded to QuickTime 7.3 and experienced problems playing audio out through a MBox. The computer in question is a G4 running up to date Tiger and now Quicktime 7.3... System was fine, I booted and got software update with a new ITunes (and QT7.3); Installed; No Audio Out......

The problem seems to be playing audio files through QuickTime Player. The funny thing is this: After playing with system preferences and quiting and restarting core audio, it started working!!! Good. But on the next re-start, no audio.

It seems that double clicking a file to open and play using QuickTime Player does not work. However, opening QuickTime Player and then opening an audio file is fine. Once QuickTime Player is open, double-clicking a file opens and plays. Its just the initial startup that seems to be the problem.

So far the sequence that does NOT Work is boot, wait for core audio to load, double-click aiff file to play with QTPlayer: File plays but no audio out through MBox.

The sequence that DOES work is boot, wait for core audio to load, open QTPlayer. Close default intro window. Double click aiff file. It plays fine out through MBox.

It appears to me that there was a new player loaded with the 7.3 update and somehow that player does not connect with the MBox when it is launched with a file, rather than by itself.

Hope this helps anyone with a QT7.3 problem.
