Question Re: vnc slowing d-show?

Hey folks,

I merged the 2 active threads on this subject (and made the thread sticky) in hopes that we could focus some attention on this.

If anyone who is seeing this problem could please post their system configuration details we would greatly appreciate it. Please include the following:
  • VENUE D-Show Software Version
  • VENUE ECx Software Version
  • Client computer Operating System
Please also try re-installing the ECx software (whichever version is currently installed) and let us know if that changes the behavior.

Thanks to everyone who has already posted their system config!

-Rich

Console software: 2.8.5
ECx software: 2.0
VNC: whatever comes on the ECX CD running Windows Vista

Slowing on the VGA display only.

Cleared up upon reinstall of the ECx software v 2.0

Okay yesterday I reloaded the console with 2.7.1 and switched back to ECx1.0 No luck. Loaded up ECx 2.0, no luck. My sluggishness appears on both the laptop and the VENUE screen and is noticeable not only on the meters but when I go from a all faders down/muted snapshot to one where they snap up they pause briefly in the middle. As soon as I disconnect my laptop, or turn off the VNC program (not the wireless router) the board is fine. Hope this helps!

Avoiding a new thread,

where can i get a complete install of ECx for an SC48 which i get to work on once a while, but did not come with the ethernet option installed from factory.

I tried downloading what i could find on the avid website, and on a usb it showd nothing to update.

Had the dealer send me an ISO file of what he stated was the original install, loaded it into the drive and same issue, nothing to update.

I had all files unzipped to the root directory of the removable media.

Most of what i say is from memory, so kindly excuse any inaccurasies in my discriptions. And spellings.

Thanks a ton!

Sidhu,

The .ISO image for ECx is available here http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=356821

If you are still unable to install ECx the system software may need to be re-installed.

JButera (and others),

Our research has indicated that the VNC slowdown may be related to installing ECx 2.0 over a ECx 1.0 install. If you upgraded ECx from 1.0 to 2.0 and are now experiencing the slowdown described in this thread you may want to do a System Restore and install ECx 2.0 only.

If this still doesn't resolve the issue for any of you please let us know.

Thanks,
Rich

Did a full system restore and loaded ECx 2.0 and still lagging alot. really obvious when you are connected with VNC and then on the console itself you watch the screen as you recall a snapshot. the faders seem to pause and then jump into place on the screen. The minute I disconnect the VNC device the problem stops.

Okay, thanks for the report. Sorry to hear you're still having problems. I'll forward this along to the test group, and hopefully we'll have another workaround or a final fix soon.

Thanks,
Rich

Colle,

Was ECx 2.0 installed over the 1.0 version?

Have you tried re-installing ECx 2.0 again?

Thanks,
Rich

I've now got the same sluggish/glitchy behavior on my meters on screen when i recall a snapshot with no router connected to my system at all. I'm still running 2.8.5 with ECx 2.0. Although now without a router even connected I'm wondering if I should just reload the entire console?
