Default D-Control track ball failing

Howdy,

The trackball left button is starting to fail on my D-Control...

Is there any idea of the parts these guys are made from? I've taken it out, the button mechanism soldered onto the board is no longer clicking.

I could unsolder the current one and place a new one on.

Stefan.

You don't need to unsolder anything. I took mine out. It's just a couple connectors for the whole unit. You can buy a complete replacement. Just Google. There is usually one on Ebay.

Really? I wouldn't think that would be available on ebay.

It's a digidesign/Avid built circuit board that the buttons are attached to.

Stef.
It's a complete unit. The ball and buttons. In 1 box you unscrew. I have it sitting on my drawer now. The manual tells you how to remove it.

It's not the ball itself that's failing, it's the button.

The PCB board. The ball box. All of it is on Ebay I've seen.
But it's usually someone in the UK. I had to buy a pcb replacement for a fader unit before. They had everything else at the time.
Maybe not now.

OK, perhaps I'm entirely miss-understanding your replies.

By the 'whole thing' you mean the ball (an OEM part) and the buttons that are an Avid part?

If that's the case, it's not actually a 'whole part' is it? it's made up of various bits.
