Default Help! Recording live show with 2 002s?

Hi,
This saturday we'll have to record a live show with 32tracks. PTLE limits us 2 18tracks so the plan is to use 2 machines:

1. Powerbook w/002
2. My Centrino w/002R

Both with additional ADAT convertors.
Now's the big question...
Is there a way to make them sync absolutly with no need for additional hardware.
One computer will be master and the 2nd slave ofcourse...

Should I just MTC them?
is there is danger of sync when both has their own clocking or is their a way I can sync them both... again I'm using 16ch per machine so it's not only the internal convertors...

HELP! show is aprox. 3hr.

You need to tie their word clocks together.. then you can use MMC to control the slave system.

That's the issue .
If I use 2 external convertors (ADAT) the clock source in the hardware menu on both will be different ADAT-Convertors.

The MTC would be no prob but unless I have a synchornizer that can send to both wc in SPDIF format I'm stuck right?

No, you need to clock all digital devices off the same clock.. or you'll get pops and clicks. Given your hardware limitations, it doesn't sound possible (to do it right).

Just a thought, if I have 2 RME ADI8 and I make them both sync with ones wordclock.

1st PTmachine I put clock source from ADAT (RME #1)
2nd PTmachine I put clock source from ADAT (RME #2)

Is such combo possible?

You need to feed the master clock (whatever you choose) to all other digital devices.. so if you have 2 ADI-8's, then you'd assign one as the clock master and feed it's BNC WC to the other, have the clock master set to internal, and the clock slave set to external WC -- Pro Tools on both systems would get their clocks from the ADAT inputs.. this will work fine. You set up one system in peripherals as the MMC master, and the other as the slave - in the slave system, in the Transport Window set the transport=MMC.

Your only other problem now is getting clock from the master AID-8 to the two SPDIF sources.

Thank you Rail for your help!.
Each machine will record 16ch so there's no true problem as both machines will lock to their own ADI8 and the WC will be from one ADI to another.

Again thank you for your help .
