Re: Mackie HR824 monitors
Hi! At this very same moment I am mastering the second album done at other studios, with HR824´s.
I can say it has been very easy to fix mix problems done with them. Generally they have been lacking 3k, 63, 97, 14k, 16k and up. Yes, they are quite smiley curved, so at mix time you get all that bass and highs. Of course room treatment and placement becomes an important issue here. I rely more on simple Monitor Ones, that have tubish mids and a bump around 80/135 hz. I would not trust soley on HR824´s for mixing and NEVER for mastering. To me they are kind of audiophile, hi-fi whatever the market calls it. I dunno about the HR624´s, which are a more recent project. Shall be worth to check out if you are into near field monitors. I would go with Dynaudio BM5/6´s. Nice week
