Default Re: Mixing Live Concert (Mic Bleed)

You could also just make a value judgement--fix the solo performances as well as you can. Then listen through with the "unfixed" ambiences in the other tracks and see what you can live with when you hear them together. I've been in some situations like this where you find the end result is pretty forgiving, especially if you go through and ride down the ambient bits that are giving you special problems. OTHERWISE see how much you can avoid using the worst offender tracks that have the ambience in them. Bring down the drum overheads, see if you can help recreate the space by making a submix of the direct sounds and running it through a convolution verb.

If you know for sure you can't bring the singers back for a re-do, then you're going to have to get going with Autotune anyway; so do that and see what the next step is. Just look at the whole thing as damage control vs. getting it perfect.

Sweet Thanks, The thing is this performance was a duet and one of the singers lives in another state so it was a one time get together for the duet and they are very busy and don't have the time to redo the vocals.
