Default change the category of plug ins in 6.4

Hi DUCers

does anyone know how to change the category of plug ins in 6.4? I am sure there was a post on this forum before that said how to do it but I cant find it...??? I think the search function has been revamped and it not working properly.

For example my Tracks plug in is sitting under "Other" and I want it in the "Eq" category.

Anyone???

Cheers
Neeel.

I know that my L2 was under "reverb" in my plug-ins categories, then when I updated to Waves 5.0, they're all where they should be.

L2 is a stereo only plug-in... For the Waves plug-ins to be correctly categorized.. you need version 5

If you get really annoyed, you can disable the categories and go back to a single list.

Hmmm Anyone else with any ideas???

If none does it seems we are stuck with a couple of plugs in the wrong category....No big issue really but surely it wouldnt be too hard to implement a 'user arranges' plugin feature? Sort of like favourites in IE6.

I am not a programmer so I dont know???

This has been discussed at some tedious length here - do a search - hence it seems that no-one who'd answer has bothered reading this thread.

This is a 'bug' with PTLE6 - whoops sorry! of course I mean 'newly implemented feature'. Digi has come up with a system where PT looks for a piece of code in the plug-in to place it in the correct category. It's now up to the individual plug-in manufacturers to apply this to their product in the next versions. Until then PT takes a guess, and you can't do anything about it except to go into preferences and disable this function.

But there surely should be a way to find this 'piece of code' in the plugins? Anyone gave that a try yet?
Surely it's not without risk, but hey: live dangerously :ˆ)

To do that one would need the exact same plug-in set to different categories... short of that.. practically impossible.
