Default PT quit launching; no disk to reinstall

Greetings,

I avoided the OSX pitfall by using the Combo Update, and it's been running...well, as well as 7.3.x can run on 512MB. Not great, but running. Then today it suddenly stopped. All I can think of is that I upgraded QuickTime this morning.

I tried to reinstall but ran into trouble because I don't have any actual 7.3 disks. I originally ordered Pro Tools Academic from Sweetwater, and they sent me 7.1.1 disks that were not compatable with an Intel Mac, even though I'd told them I had an Intel Mac. I got the 7.3 "amnesty" upgrade, which installed directly from the Digidesign site. I later installed the 7.3.1 upgrade. Now when I try to reinstall that upgrade it says I don't have 7.3 on the system, and when I try to reinstall 7.3 from the DigiDesign site it says my activation code has already been used.

I tried trashing the prefs and repairing the disk permissions without any effect. How can I get PT back?

Default Fixed: PT quit launching; no disk to reinstall

I simply reinstalled the OS X 10.4.9 Combo Updater. PT launches; I have a session up right now.

The URL for that is under Digidesign Announcements in the thread "Mac OS X 10.4.9 Compatibility Alert" if you're having trouble finding it ( I searched DUC for about 20 minutes this morning for it).

I still wish I had a physical install disk in case I ever do have to reinstall Pro Tools. I have the licence; it seems like Digi would not have a problem sending me a disk. I just don't have time right now to search the site finding out how to ask for one. Homework beckons.

Default Re: Fixed: PT quit launching; no disk to reinstall

Click on the Compatibility link at the top of the page for information on Mac OS X 10.4.9.

Installation disk sets are available on the DigiStore in the Pro Tools 7.3 section. Directly below the upgrade, the next item is this:
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 Optional Installation DVD

But you can certainly download again without having to purchase the installation disks.

For help returning to your upgrade downloads and authorization codes, please see the Featured Downloads & Help page in the main website support section:
http://www.digidesign.com/support

On the right side under Quick Links, you will find this:

Downloaded Upgrades

Upgrades Purchased from the DigiStore
If you purchased a downloadable Pro Tools upgrade from the DigiStore, go to the DigiStore and click on the "your account" link at the top. You should see your recent orders after you are logged in.

Click on "View Order Details/Tracking Number" next to your Pro Tools upgrade order. Your upgrade downloads will be available on the order details page, along with your authorization code if you purchased a Pro Tools LE upgrade (this is also where you would find your authorization for MP3 Option if you purchased that product).

Pro Tools Amnesty Upgrades
Login to your My Digi account on the website. If you have previously completed the activation process for a Pro Tools Amnesty Upgrade, your downloads will be available after you login, along with your Pro Tools LE authorization code if you received a Pro Tools LE Amnesty upgrade. These will be under "Registered Downloads" at the bottom of your My Digi home page. Currently, only Amnesty upgrades are listed in your Registered Downloads section.
