Default Kernel Panics with Project Mix I/O and Mac Pro

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help. I've been wrestling with a system here for a bout a week. Randomly I'm getting kernel panics (you know, grey transparent screen with the dialog in the middle letting you know you are hosed!) when the Project Mix is connected and ProTools M-Powered or other apps are running.

After digging around I was able to find this crash report:

Wed Apr 11 13:41:19 2007

I have reformatted the mac pro (Quad 3.0 w/ 4GB of RAM) and reinstalled the OS (10.4.8). Latest M-Audio firewire driver (V1.8.2) and latest version of ProTools M-Powered (7.3.1cs2) for MacIntel. Repaired permissions and pretty much anything else you can think of.

Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks in advance,

Try reverting back to the 1.7.4 ProjectMIx IO driver - we've had reports of other anomalies with the 1.8.2 driver and I'm wondering if that might be part (or all) of the problem.

Been there.

Apple combo date to 10.4.9. Manually download and install.

Roll your driver back to V 1.7.4, per M Audio, this one works with Intel Based Macs and as of now, I don't believe that anything else is qualified yet.

With a PMIO, when you close a project, there will be artifacts in the display that won't go away. 1.7.4 should cure all of those issues.

Apparently, the Intel qualified driver is due very soon. Look for 10.4.9 Intel, that's when you will know.

Thanks for the tip. I've done that and so far so good.

Thanks again!
