Default EuCon version, Firmware and PT version

Hi,
although I'm a long time user and a satisfied customer of various Avid control surfaces I'm struggling hard with the correlation of EuCon version, firmware version of the controller and Pro Tools version. Is there any compatibility chart?
I have three surfaces (PT Dock, Euphonix MC Control and Artist Mix) and I want to use them in combination with two workstations. One workstation is a really old school one with Pro Tools HD hardware and PT 10 HD and Mac OS X 10.6.8. This is where the Artist control and the Artist Mix are connected, normally. The other workstation is Pro Tools 12 HD on a plan.
Is there any combination of EuCon and firmware that all controllers can work on both systems?
The MC Control shows fader jitter sometimes. Would a firmware upgrade improve that? EuControl on the old system is 2.7.1 88549. I'm afraid of a firmware upgrade as I guess the MC wouldn't work with the old system anymore.

Any help appreciated.

Best regards

Mark

Hi Mark, unfortunately its the OS you are running not the PT version. I think you are running the best version on that old machine. As far as the newer one it depends on whether it is on the same network as the older Mac. If it is on the same network the best version is 3.4.1. There were major changes in v3.5 onwards that mean that it can't coexist on the same network as older versions. All kinds of issues happen. If separate then I highly recommend the new version coming out next week v18.2 (formally 3.8) The firmware in EuControl would be the best for each version. Sorry I can't give better news.

Thanks Eddie, but there are a few further questions:
-Could I improve my situation if I upgrade my old system to Mac OS X 10.8.5?
-Does a new firmware improve the fader jitter on the MC Control?
-I’m afraid of upgrading the firmware. Is there a way back if I’m not satisfied?

I wish the whole thing would be a little less confusing...

Best

Mark

I'm pretty certain you can roll back the firmware (if needed as it might work OK even if they are not in sync) The last official version supported for Mountain lion is 3.2.1 but my guy here says the latest 3.7 should run.
I dont see any harm in updating the OS and trying 3.7 (or 18.2 next week) You can always roll back to 3.2.1.
Its hard for us to keep track of all the OS versions both Mac and Windows plus all the DAW versions and surface combinations...you can imagine the massive testing grid needed!
