Leave the playback buffers at 2 (default). These cause hard disk writes and often return the error you are seeing if they are not set to default.

The other one you are seeing is how much of your CPU that you want to dedicate to PTLE. Set this to maximum (85%) unless you have problems. You can monitor the CPU usage with the meter in the Display menu.

The third one you want to set in relation to what you need for latency and performance. These are playback buffers directly related to samples. Low latency would be 64. Normal for editing is around 256 or 512. Many performers will complain if they are monitoring a live recording at more than 64. The more plugins you use, the higher this number may need to be.

For a more detailed description you might try reading the manual although little is said about the DAE hardware buffers.
