Default Why high-resolution audio is an industry pipe-dream

Read the article at the link below:

http://www.techhive.com/article/2048...tml#tk.rss_all

As much as I hate to admit it, I think the writer is spot on. I think many of us convince ourselves what we need to to justify the decision we make on purchases, or how we record.

Me, I will always do my very best, but I have to accept, that more of it than I want to admit, will never be appreciated by the masses. The next decade will be very interesting. I may not like where it goes, but it really doesn't matter what I like, if the general public does not agree.

Sure, lots of people when asked will say they want better, but when it comes to shell out the money to buy what's better, not sure the money will back up what the mouth says.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make it sound the best we can.

The good news though is that all these mp3 players are getting bigger memory wise, internet speed are increasing, download rates are also increasing while the price is remaining the same or dropping. So eventually we're probably going to see a trend coming on where people are going to get full HD movies for their tablet, and if for the same price they can get a loseless format (IE High resolution of the song) and that space vs cost is no longer an option, we might see people go more for the high rez than not.

then we are left with people using bad headphones/ear-buds

I'm not saying we shouldn't strive for the best but let us know the fight

What a piece of utter ignorance! Sure our investment banker friends in Silly-Con Valley want people to believe nobody cares as they hustle stock in their latest streaming music service to cell phones. They are projecting their own pipe-dreams on everybody else.

We don't make great records for "consumers" who we know don't buy music. We make records for engaged fans and to impress the reviewers, promoters and broadcasters who can offer our artists enough media exposure to make the recording profitable.
