digi 002 input gain
When I plug in a mic with a xlr cable on mic inputs 1-4 with the course gain turned completely down I'm still getting a signal. It's too loud and when I'm recording something with a loud signal, its peaking. I'm used to the digi 001 not picking up any sound when the gain is turned completely off. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: digi 002 input gain
Dear dashlogan. I've never had this problem and all of a sudden yesterday, i picked this up. I am used to the fact that when the input gains on my 002R were turned completely down, there are no signal, and this makes sense. But now I'm getting a signal even if the input gains are turned down completely, and this does not make sense.

Re: digi 002 input gain
I had this problem when I tried to record snaredrum-I bought a shure attenuator, problem solved, It also sound better when the Input gain on the 002 preamp is pushed a little.

Re: digi 002 input gain
I have a 24 bus analog board so my input is set to +4. I can't remember exactly how the 002 works without a front end but have you tried switching the +4, -10 switch? Or have you installed new versions of PT? A while back (possibly since ver7) while installing PT would ask you if you wanted to ad &*$* amount of DB to your sessions, possibly you inadvertently checked this box while upgrading...
* I didn't realize you've posted duplicate post- forgive me if my opinions have be previously discussed. |

Re: digi 002 input gain
You dragged out a 6 year old thread for this. Shure makes an in-line pad that is one solution. A better might be to bypass the stock preamps completely. If your Pro Tools is version 9 or later, you could dump the 002 in favor of many 3rd party interfaces(MOTU, RME, Focusrite). If you are still running LE, then the Behringer ADA8200 connected to the lightpipe input would give you 8 Midas-designed preamps that would likely sound much better
