Default PT9 blew my mind now I need your help

I'm in the process of getting a vocal/mixing suite up. Right now I have control 24 and 96io. Im looking at getting an 8 core Mac pro. Should I go HD or Native. I will be running medium session with some plugins and outboard gear(down the road).

The 96io is only going to work with either an HD TDM or HD Native card.

So I'd go with whatever is cheaper, HD2 or HD Native Card.

It comes down to what horsepower you might need. You say that ur gearing up for a vocal/mixing suite. The vocal side could be done minimally, ie an HD1 or mobbed the basic native stuff. I have an HD3 rig which is older PCIx cards in a magma chassis and that might be the cheapest way to go. Figure out how many plugs you plan to use or already have. If you need TDM then you should build up a true HD rig. If you can run with rtas then you should look at the new native stuff, and maybe consider a UAD2 card... Which I also use in a MX creation rig that is sort of a poor man's TDM approach. You have many ways to go, I'm just suggesting a few. One more thought, have you checked to make sure the 96i/0 works with the new HD native cards? While I'm at it the 96i/0 is not considered top drawer, esp the AD part, but it would serve you well for starters... I'm sure the new interfaces sound much better.

Awesome advice I appreciate it. I believe if I get an 8 core Mac pro it would be able to handle quite a bit of RTAS plugins. I got the 96io from a friend for a good price but I believe it will work well considering I recorded vocals for an album using an API pre and my Mbox :) I was looking to go with the PCI route but I want to get a Mac Pro not a G5.
