Delay compensation question
Hey I've been struggling with delay compensation and proper time alignment.
On this TDM system, the max ADC is 4000 samples at 44.1k. I usually exceed this because of weird pitch shifting fx, etc. My question is how to I keep everything aligned when I add or remove plug-ins when it has exceeded the limit already. For example, if I already exceeded the limit and add a second pitch shifter, I would need to turn off the plug in delay, then physically move the track. However if I decide I don't want the shifter... I have to move the track back again to its previous spot. So everyone I add a plugin, I would need to physically offset it again. Is there an easier way to keep things aligned when trying new fx and plugins? |

Re: Delay compensation question
Whenever you need specs surpassing the capabilities of the DAW, be it latency and/or ADC, you must find a way around it. I would simply make use of the comment field to note what I've done.
YMMV.

Re: Delay compensation question
Or use the Audiosuite version(if available) and duplicate the Playlist first(so you can choose to go back to the un-processed version).

Re: Delay compensation question
This is what the Time Adjuster plug-in is for. Manual delay compensation.

Re: Delay compensation question
Would the Mellow muse ATA be a better choice because that has a 50,000 sample limit?
The time adjuster has up to 8000 if I'm not mistaken? |

Re: Delay compensation question
48000/8000=6ms so if you need more you could just as well nudge the clip

Re: Delay compensation question
Ah yeah I'll probably just nudge the track, it seems simpler than putting time adjusters in every single channel. Though I have 1 more question, whats the difference between disabling plugin delay for a channel, against disabling the delay compensation for the channel? Which one would I deactivate if I was going to be nudging it?

Re: Delay compensation question
Ah ok, you know when the channel goes red because the limit has been exceeded,
Do I turn off delay compensation on that channel, then nudge it, Or do I turn off the plug in delay number that's red, and then nudge it, Or do I leave it red, then nudge it? |

Re: Delay compensation question
Turn ADC off for the track and nudge it(notate in the comments box for the nudge value). BTW, if you are running 12.3 or later, why not commit the track and then use the original to help you spot(if needed) to the exact timeline position(although a commited track just MIGHT place itself correctly)
